BREAKING! UPDF senior officer shot dead, another injured

NAKASONGOLA — A Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) soldier has on Sunday evening opened fire killing a senior officer instantly and injured another junior officer.

The incident occurred on Sunday evening at Nakasongola Cantonment where a senior army officer at rank of Major was shot dead.

“There has been a shooting incident at Nakasongola Cantonment by one soldier leading to death of one Senior Officer at a rank of Major,” the amry spokesperson Brig. Richard Karemire said.

Brig. Karemire said the trigger happy soldier also injured a junior officer who had intervened to arrest him and now hospitalized.

Brig. Karemire regretted the incident saying that thorough investigations will be done to find out the root cause of the shootout.

“Investigations have commenced to establish the motive with efforts being made to apprehend the killer now on the run”
