KAMPALA — President Yoweri Museveni will address the nation again tonight at 8pm to clarify on the guidelines he issued in Monday address that created enormous confusion across the country.
Senior Presidential Press Secretary Don Wanyama said via his Twitter that Mr. Museveni will address the nation at 8 p.m Ugandan time.
“After receiving lots of feedback from the public on his address last evening, [President] Museveni will today, at 8pm, hold a televised address to respond to some of the issues. Tune in,” he Twitted.
The President Museveni indicated that after careful consideration, the government had decided to issue new measures in the process of lifting lockdown but said that are tied up by absence of masks.
“Opening up is tied to the masks. And the masks will be ready in two weeks, starting May 19,” said President Museveni on Tuesday.
“We believe that with the [proper] mask, you do not infect others and you also do not get infected, on top of all the other measures.”
Once again, the President sought to give justification for why his government has allowed the cargo transporters to continue coming in despite being the source of the persistent numbers of the coronavirus cases in Uganda.
