KAMPALA — StarTimes has asked subscribers to purchase and recharge bouquets via its online recharge system in one of its lead measures to ensure that people stay at home amid coronavirus lockdown.

The company said customers can use Airtel mobile money (Dial *185#) or MTN mobile money (Dial *165#) and follow the prompts respectively.

This is one of the measures taken by the company to curb the spread of the virus.

Customers can also pay using POS services such as PayWay, Selcom, Interswitch and Pebuu; or PesaPal that supports visa card payments; or use mobile apps like Apay, and Caramel.

Those using the StarTimes ON app, customers can recharge or upgrade their TV bouquet directly on their phone “by simply linking your smart card with the StarTimes ON app”.

Mr. Franklin Wang, the StarTimes Chief Executive Officer said the payment solutions allow everybody to stay safe and stay calm.

“StarTimes aims to contribute to the safety of the public during these special times [including] making sure that people don’t have to leave their home to access and enjoy entertainment, news and educational programs is a small step toward creating a Healthy Environment,” he said adding: ‘We believe that every Healthy Behaviour can lead to a Healthy Body and a Healthy Mindset.”

StarTimes has since upgraded its TV program offering to cater the needs of families including launching a new and unique educational television programme for students and children called ‘Home Schooling’ which is now live on ST Kids, among other Channels.

With the new programme, the company says children will get educated while enjoying choice content on the StarTimes television channel.
