
KAMPALA – The Parliament’s Appointments Committee is slated to vet the newly appointed Bank of Uganda Deputy Governor, Michael Atiangi-Ego who was recently nominated by President Yoweri Museveni to replace Louis Kasekende whose contract expired in January 2020.
Other officials up for scrutiny include Commissioner of Uganda Prisons Johnson Byabashaija whose contract was renewed as well as James Mwanje, Deputy Commissioner Prisons.

High Court Judge, Jane Frances Abodo, who was recently named as the Director of Public Prosecution replacing Mike Chibita who was named Supreme Court judge is also expected to appear before the Committee for vetting, pending her approval and assumption of office.
The Parliament’s Appointments Committee is also expected to vet members of the Leadership Code Tribunal including Karugonjo Segawa Irene as Chairperson, former political flop Asuman Kiyingi who was consoled with post as Deputy Chairperson of the Tribunal.
The other members on the Tribunal include Jane Okelowange, Didas Bakunzi Mufasha and Joyce Nakunga.

Parliament’s Appointments Committee is headed by Speaker Rebecca Kadaga with Deputy Speaker, Jacob Oulanyah coming in as her deputy. The Leader of Opposition, Betty Aol is also a member of that Committee and other MPs.
The vetting is expected to take place on April 6, 2020, starting at 10 am.
