Former Kongasis MP Kapkwomu dies

Ndiwa Kapkwomu was an MP between 1994 and 1996 (PHOTO/NET).

MBALE – The former Member of Parliament for Kongasis County, Ndiwa Kapkwomu, is dead.

He died on Saturday at Mt Elgon Hospital in Mbale Town.

His brother Julius Kiprop said the deceased had been complaining of throat complications. Kiprop said they are waiting for the medical report to know the cause of his death.

Kapkwomu was member of the Constituent Assembly between 1994 and 1996. He also served as District Veterinary officer Bukwo between 1996 and 2001.

The deceased is survived by a wife and 8 children. He was born in 1954 in Amanang village, Amanang parish in Bukwo Sub-county.

He went to Amanang primary school, Kiira college, Butiki for O- level and then went Ntare school for his Alevel.

He joined Makerere University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of veterinary medicine. He also Edinburgh university in Scotland for his master degree.

He was elected as MP in 2001 after beating Johnson Bartile Toskin (RIP). In 2006, he lost to Bartile and returned to serve as a member of the district service commission
