ABIM – A UPDF soldier has been arrested in Abim district for disobeying presidential directives aimed at fighting against Corona virus.

Private Omara David Abura No.RA 201860 attached to 1st division Kakiri was arrested on orders of the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Mr. Samuel Hashaka Mpimbaza for organising discos every night gathering many people in his bar in Kiru town council.

His arrest was after residents including the LC3 chairperson of Kiru Town council Ms Susan Akello complained to Abim district Corona taskforce meeting chaired by Mr. Hashaka on Thursday.

According to Ms Akello, she tried all her effort to advise the soldier to respect the president directives by not running the bars but he could not listen.

“He looked at me as a useless woman because I kept on telling him to close his bar which very many people could gather and drink but he refused,” she said.

RDC Hashaka confirmed the arrest of the UPDF officer saying private Omara stubbornly refused to stop the night discos as per the presidential directives.

“He was very sturbon refusing to close his bar and we arrested him and handed over to him to Police,” he said.
