COVID-19 CRISIS: Three arrested for possesing suspected stolen properties in security crackdown

KAMPALA- Uganda Police Spokesperson CP Fred Enanga has revealed that three suspects were arrested in an operation that targeted phone snatchers, who steal from residents moving back home.

In a statement dated April 9, Mr Enanga said the operation led to the arrest of one Charles Ocheme,27 who led them to the other two suspects.

“On interrogation, Ochema led the operation team to Wabigalo parish at the residence of Seguya Ivan, 27 a phone technician at Hanifa Towers who allegedly buys stolen phones and laptops,” reads an excerpt.

Mr Enanga added that Seguya was also found together with Wahab Taban,24 a boda boda rider and resident of Muwafu zone Kibuli parish.

“A search was conducted in the house of Seguya and the following items were recovered; 01 Apple laptop, 30 iPhones, 14 Android phones, 31 dismantled phones, 01 smile mi-fi, 35 smartphone covers, 02 laptop chargers, 06 phone charging cables,” Enanga said.

He said the suspects are currently detained at Kabalagala and they have preferred to investigate allegations of robbery and suspected stolen properties.

“The file will later be forwarded to the RSA for advise and probable sanction so that the trio can appear in courts of law,” reads the statement in part
