He made the remarks as security chiefs addressed the nation on the state of security on Monday,April 6,2020 at Uganda Media Center in Kampala.

Commenting on the food distribution program, Brig Karemire said the food is distributed to people whose means of livelihood may have been affected and who if not helped may starve.

“These people have been identified by the local council’s,” he said.

He further trashed allegations of the food being poisonous according to romours making rounds on social media.

“It is absolute rubbish for anyone to say the food being disturbed is poisonous as it’s being alleged on social media. We care about our people,” Brig Karemire told the press.

He said there is no reason why poisoned food should be given to people.

“Those who are going on social media and saying so are absolute liars and enemies of our people,” he noted.

Mr Karemire said they will continue to support the people through these tough times.

He further revealed that a total of 1,575, 934 and 715 families received food items in Bwaise I, Bwaise II and Bwaise III respectively.

“We wish to commend the people in these areas for the discipline they exhibited when receiving these items,” he said.
