KAMPALA – Ruparelia Foundation in conjunction with Gateway Delta and Gateway Metroplex Ltd, have donated 4,000 food kits to the needy as the coronavirus continues to bite.

Addressing the media at the Prime Minister’s Office on Thursday, April 23, Mr. Rajiv Ruparelia, Managing Director of Ruparelia Group of Companies and a trustee at Ruparelia Foundation said: “The country is going through one of its most difficult periods since independence in 1962. We are fighting a disease that cannot be seen. In comparison to some countries in Europe and America and China which, have recorded Covid-19 related deaths in their thousands, we in Uganda are so far lucky in that not a single death has been recorded.”

He added that, “This does not mean that that we should relax. If anything, we must continue to heed the directives of President Museveni and Dr. Ruth Acheng, the Minister of Health, if we are to come out of the crisis unscathed.”

He said that in this crisis, there are many people who have lost their jobs and are currently unable to support themselves.

President Museveni a few weeks ago, called on the business community to see what they can do and like many other companies, Ruparelia Foundation heeded his call and we donated two Tata pick-ups. Once again, Ruparelia Foundation has stepped up to the president’s call and along with Gateway Delta and Gateway Metroplex Limited, we are donating 4,000 food kits to be distributed to those in need.

Each of the 4,000 food kits contain 2kgs of posho, 1kg of sugar, 1k of beans and detergent soap/1 bar of soap.
