COVID-19 CRISIS: Bunyoro Kingdom donates Shs60m to COVID-19 response taskforce

Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom also join the call by the government to save Ugandans in this COVID-19 crisis by contributing food (PHOTO/Courtesy).

KAMPALA – Bunyoro Kitara Kingdom (BKK)has donated 60 million shillings towards the fight against corona virus.

20 million shillings is from BKK coffers while an additional 40 million shillings will be mobilised from the Kingdom subjects.

The BKK Prime Minister Rt Hon Andrew Byakutaga said the money is meant to purchase medical protective gears for patients and medical workers.

The physical items of the donation will go to the 8 districts of Bunyoro through the respective COVID 19 district task forces.

The facilities that will benefit from the donation are Hoima, Kagadi, Buliisa, Masindi, Kiryandongo hospitals as well as Kikuube health centre IV and Kakumiro health centre IV.

The Premier said the Omukama of Bunyoro Kitara Dr Solomon Gafabusa Iguru I is concerned about the threat posed by the corona virus against his people.

He said the King has called off his 26th coronation anniversary celebrations that were supposed to be held on 11th June 2020.

He said the King has directed the Kingdom administration to concentrate efforts towards fight the virus.
