KAMPALA — Buganda Kingdom through Prince David Wasajja has handed over a cheque of UGX. 100 million to the COVID-19 Response Team headed to Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda.

The cheque was handed over to the prime minister on April 7, 2020 at the Office of the Prime Minister in Kampala.

Prince Wasajja said Uganda has the resources to overcome the pandemic.

“I assure you of the support of the Kabaka and the people of Buganda,” he said.

He advised Ugandans to be vigilant as although there are sacrifices being made.

“We all know what’s supposed to be done to the spread of COVID-19. We support and appreciate members of the public who have adhered to the call of the president to stay home.” Wasajja said.

A female representative from Buganda Kingdom said the Kabaka sent them with some food as he knows people are in need of food especially now that they aren’t working.

“We also thank the President for the efforts to provide food to the people,” she said.

Dr. Ruhakana revealed that the team looking after the funds shall be appointed by the president and will be announced this week to make sure all the money being collected serves the purpose of fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.
