KAMPALA — Ms. Doris Akol has on Thursday April 02, 2020 handed over the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Commissioner General’s office to Mr. John Musinguzi Rujoki.
Ms. Akol bowed out days Mr Museveni appointed Musinguzi Rujoki as the new URA Commissioner General.
Mr. Musinguzi was appointed new Commissioner General on Sunday, March 29.
Speaking at the handover in Kampala, Ms Akol noted that change is normal and good for future leaders.
“It is also a step of growth and expansion for URA,” said Ms. Akol who has served for 15 years in the senior leadership of URA and 5 years and 5 months as Commissioner General of URA.
She emphasized that URA is a robust and well-respected revenue administration in the region and on the continent.
“URA is a much sought after destination for other revenue administrators the world over who come to learn from us how to do things right,” she said.
Juma Kisaame, the URA Board Chairman welcomed the new Commissioner General.
Mr. Kisaame urged Mr Musinguzi to build on Ms. Akol’s achievements to take URA to even greater horizons.
He further advised him to improve and strengthen staff capacity and competence development as a lever for improved productivity.
About Akol:
Following her graduation from the Law Development Centre in 1994, Akol spent one year at PricewaterhouseCoopers, at their Kampala offices. In 1995, she joined URA, as a Legal Officer. From 2012 until 2014, Doris Akol was the Commissioner for Legal Affairs and Board Matters at the Uganda Revenue Authority. In that capacity, she also served as the Company’s Legal Secretary.
In October 2014, she was appointed Commissioner general at URA.
She assumed her new office on 30 October 2014.
About Musinguzi:
Mr. Musinguzi holds a Master’s degree in Computing and Information systems of the University of Greenwich and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics of Makerere University.
He is the Senior Presidential Advisor on ICT and Investment.
