NAIROBI —The number of coronavirus confirmed cases in Kenya has reached 122, while four including a six year old have succumbed to the disease, Health Cabinet Assistant Secretary Merce Mwangangi has said.

She said that a 6-year-old boy who had some other underlying conditions succumbed to the disease on Friday April 03.

“I am saddened to inform you that we have lost another patient to the coronavirus disease. The person is a 6-year-old male child who was also ailing from other conditions and had been admitted at the Kenyatta National Hospital,” she stated.

“Medical staff who handled the boy have been quarantined,” she added.

Mwangangi told local media that the 12 new cases are eight men and four women.

“Of the 12, 11 are Kenyans while one is a Somali national,” she stated adding that at least 648 people are being traced.

The ages of those confirmed is between 28 and 68 years, Mwangangi told journalists on Friday.
