25th April, 2020
Rt. Rev. Dr. Bishop Lambert Bainomugisha
The Archbishop Elect
Archdiocese of Mbarara
Dear Archbishop Elect,
RE: CONGRATULATORY MESSAGE
We the members of the Archdiocese of Mbarara Development Association (AMDA), heartily congratulate you upon your appointment as the Archbishop Elect of the Archdiocese of Mbarara. The news of your appointment has brought a lot of pleasure to us.
We thank His Holiness Pope Francis who upon the inspiration of the Holy Spirit has chosen you to be the chief shepherd of the Archdiocese of Mbarara. May the Almighty continue to bless you.
We are very grateful to the outgoing Archbishop Paul K. Bakyenga for the great legacy he has left behind. In his tenure as the Archbishop, the Church in Mbarara has grown in all dimensions and many people have experienced salvation through his leadership and careful attention to the advice of the Holy Spirit.
Your Grace, as the scripture states in Jeremiah 1:5, we believe the Almighty God chose you before you existed and prepared you as a Shepherd to his people.
Jeremiah 1:5
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, And before you were born I consecrated you; I have appointed you a prophet to the nation”_
No wonder, your appointment has occurred on the Feast Day of St Mark, the Evangelist. May you draw inspiration from St Mark in spreading God’s word and goodness to the nations.
We shall continue beseeching the Lord almighty to bestow upon you all the wisdom you need to shepherd the Archdiocese of Mbarara.
Your appointment has come at a time when the world is experiencing a pandemic as a result of COVID-19. As a consequence, the faithful are locked down in their houses and some are lacking food and other life necessities. Beyond this current challenge, there are the usual development challenges that afflict our Archdiocese and the nation at large. We are confident that your appointment will go a long way in ameliorating these pastoral challenges.
You already have great men who have come before you in the names of; Bishop F.X Lacoursiele, Bishop J M Ogez, Bishop J.B. Kakubi and Archbishop P. K. Bakyenga. These will inspire you in your new ministry.
On behalf of the Executive Council and all the members of AMDA, we pledge to closely work with you. We wish you a successful episcopalate.
May the Almighty continue to guide you as you serve his people
Yours in Christ,
E-Signed:
Dr. Gaston Ampe
Chairman Mbarara
