KAMPALA – A cross section of the public has applauded rival artistes Bobi Wine and Bebe Cool for releasing songs that are sensitising the public about coronavirus.

Bobi Wine, whose real name is Robert Kyagulanyi, together with fellow artiste Nubian Li early this week released the song in which they urge the public to fight the disease without any fear or favour.

‘The bad news is that everyone is a potential victim. But the good news is that everyone is a potential solution. Educate the masses to be disinfected. Keep a social distance and quarantine,” are some of the lines in Bobi Wine’s song that has since won recognition by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

In the same vein, Bebe Cool together with other artistes including A Pass, Fresh Kid, John Blaq, Vinka and Azawie also hit the studio to record a joint song about the virus.

The song dubbed Corona Distance is still in the studio and Bebe Cool continues to invite several other musicians to take part in it in a bid to instil confidence among the citizenry.

Bobi Wine himself on Wednesday appreciated his rival Bebe Cool for the initiative.
“Let me yet again appreciate this other team of artistes who are adding their voice to the ongoing battle against the Coronavirus pandemic. I continue to encourage each one of us to use our respective talents, abilities and platforms to confront #Covid19. In solidarity, we shall win this war,” he posted on his Facebook page.

The reaction by Bobi Wine, also Kyadondo East MP and presidential hopeful, has drawn massive reactions from the public who described him as a mature politician.

Andrew Kasirye said: “That’s how I get inspired to leave here a comment.Truth be said you have perfect quality of a true leader. You understand situations and act accordingly..God save Uganda,God save Africa,God save all humanity on the globe.Thank you Mr.Bobi Wine.”

Phiphie Zavuga posted: “The maturity that my president expresses is beyond my love for him thanks so much am loving u more and more . My mother loves you more.”

Ashraf Ali posted: “I am a Bebe Cool supporter and NRM but please can you tell me Where are the offices of people power?
Kyagulanyi you are a great man and Bebe Cool never even call on my phone.
Please can you help me to find president Bobi Wine.”

Since Bobi Wine became an opposition politician and declared intention to run for presidency in 2021, he has fallen out with his longtime friend Bebe Cool who is an ardent supporter of the ruling NRM party led by Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
