PML Daily CORONAVIRUS UPDATE: New KCCA speaker rallies city residents against COVID-19

KAMPALA – The newly appointed Speaker of Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), Mr Abubaker Kawalya, on Wednesday, March 25, 2020, distributed water tanks, antiseptics and facemasks to people in high-risk areas like markets, car bonds in Rubaga Division in the fight against coronavirus.

Mr Kawalya, who is the Rubaga North representative at the Authority, visited all the five parishes in the constituency sensitizing people about the deadly Coronavirus.

The Speaker appealed to National Water and Sewerage Corporation to stop disconnecting people especially at this moment “because we are at war with the alien COVID-19.”

Mr Kawalya stressed to the people that in the current situation where Coronavirus is spreading like wildfire, keeping social distance should be observed.

The move comes after the Ministry of Health on Wednesday, confirmed five new cases of coronavirus, bringing the number of confirmed cases to 14.

KCCA has instituted a rapid response team comprising doctors to respond to suspected coronavirus cases. Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago said the doctors will be stationed in each of the five divisions of the city.
