NRM announces fresh countrywide registration exercise for party members

Mr. Rogers Mulindwa,  the Spokesperson, NRM announced the membership registration and update (PHOTO/File).

KAMPALA – The  National Resistance Movement (NRM) has announced that the membership registration/update exercise starts on Monday 9th to Sunday 15th March 2020 country wide.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, March 4, 2020, Mr Rogers Mulindwa, the NRM Senior Manager for Information, Communication & Public Relations, said the exercise will be carried out at village/branch level by registrars assigned by the NRM Secretariat.

Mr Mulindwa said for the villages that were in existence as of July 2015, their registers have been prepared by the Secretariat with data of their members that were registered at that time. For the new villages created, blank booklets have been provided, he said.

He said the exercise targets to allow members check the accuracy of their particulars on the 2015 Register, collect data on the members’ Gender, Age, Date of Birth (Day/Month/Year), National Identification Number (NIN) and telephone number and identify members under the Special Interest Groups of PWDs, Elderly and the Youth.

Mr Mulindwa added that the exercise also seeks to inform Members of their voting villages, enable the removal the ineligible persons from the register, register new Members and disaggregate the data for new villages from the mother villages.

He added that to qualify for registration, one must be A citizen of Uganda aged 16 years and above and residing or originating from that village/branch.

“For avoidance of doubt, a person shall be deleted from the Register if that person; Died Left the Party to another Political Party/Group Shifted from the area Non-citizen Please note that Membership Cards (Endaga Yello) will be issued at a later stage,” Mr Mulindwa said.
