JINJA – The Ministry of Health has said there are no COVID-19 suspected cases in Jinja District contrary to reports circulating on social media platforms.
According to Mr Emmanuel Ainebyoona, the Ministry of Health senior public relations officer, the persons being referred to are undergoing self-quarantine.
“There are no COVID-19 suspected cases in Jinja. The Jinja District Health officer has indicated that the persons being referred to were undergoing self-quarantine. However, they have since been moved to Jinja Referral Hospital to complete their 14-day quarantine,” he said.
“Please disregard all the false social media posts that have been making rounds. Remember to verify any information COVID-19 with Ministry of Health through this WhatsApp number 0706428093,” he added.
The trending message on WhatsApp read: “Second person suspected of COVID 19 has been picked this morning from Jinja Njeru who was one of the those in Ethiopian airlines from Dubai, the wife discovered signs and immediately raised a call the ministry of health who rushed and picked him with some other who may have been associated with him.
