PML Daily CORONAVIRUS UPDATE: Lumumba orders closure of all NRM offices

KAMPALA – NRM Secretary General Justine Kasule Lumumba has directed immediate closure of all party offices as the country continues to lay strategies of avoiding the wide spread of the deadly Coronavirus.

The Secretary General has asked the Director for Finance and Administration, Dr. Hassan Wasswa Galiwango, to effect the directive without any delay. The offices include the Party Headquarters along Kyadondo Road in Kampala City, the Electoral Commission Annex and all District stations. The staff are advised to stay home until further notice.

Lumumba has also called on the party leadership at all levels to suspend any meetings or Party activities in their respective areas and stay home. She says the campaign to fight the deadly Coronavirus begins with an individual and therefore reminds every citizen to abide with the health guidelines given by the line Ministry.

All offices will remain closed until advised to contrary.

The Secretary General will be on BBS Terefayina this Tuesday evening on Amaaso ku Ggwanga programme.

The Ministry of Health on Tuesday morning confirmed eight new cases of COVID-19 in the country.

All infected are Ugandans who traveled from Dubai. This brings to nine the number of cases Uganda has confirmed, a day after President Yoweri Museveni announced closure of the borders to human traffic.

Minister of Health Ruth Aceng has called on anyone who came into Uganda from Dubai in the past two weeks to get in touch with her officers so they can track and test them.
