KAMPALA– The Minister for Lands, Housing and Urban Development Beti Kamya has said that her joining of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) is like the story of the prodigal son as her story is not different.

The minister made the revelations during an interview with a local television on Wednesday, March 5, 2020.

According to Ms Kamya, President Museveni and NRM are heads and shoulders above other politicians and political parties.

“The problem of Uganda is not President Museveni. I am joining a mass party that the people of Uganda find comfort with especially in times of profiling security,” Kamya said.

She added that the people of Uganda are very comfortable and secure with the leadership of Uganda as the level of tolerance of the president has not been seen among other parties or in other countries.

“Everyone negatively talks about him in a very disrespectful manner, this does not happen elsewhere. The president’s maturity helps them enjoy their democracy,” she further explained.

Asked to give a comment on allegations that she is a mole, Ms Kamya trashed the allegations and said she is a bold objective analyst who stays by her conviction.

“If I choose to associate with one party, it should make not make me an enemy of the other,” she said.

Ms Kamya further affirmed that it is a democratic principle to switch from one party to another as long as one is happy and comfortable.

She said Gen Tumukunde’s bid for the presidency is not very strange but he will perform like the late Biraro or Amama Mbabazi.

“People like to support something strong. The die-hard opposition will support Besigye,” said Kamya.
