
KAMPALA – Investment Minister Evelyn Anite has donated various scholastic materials to schools in Koboko Municipality and commissioned various development projects in the area.
Ms Anite, who is the area MP, is visiting all schools in Koboko municipality where she is conducting mentoring sessions and donating scholastic materials.
On Monday, she visited three schools; Ombaci Self Help, Nyarilo P/S and Teremunga Primary School with a combined total population of 7,000 pupils, where she donated books and other learning materials and pledged to provide more support from the Government of Uganda.
The minister appealed to the pupils, especially the girls, to always remember and keep reminding themselves that their bodies are the Lord’s temple and must therefore abstain from sexual immorality.
On Tuesday, Ms Anite she visited Noor Islamic nursery, Birijaku P/S & Ogo P/S all in Koboko municipality where Ishe distributed scholastic materials and held several discussions with teachers about ways to improve their teaching and learning environment.
?She emphasized the need to intensify the battle against early pregnancy and sexual harassment in schools.
Earlier on Sunday, the minister inspected the construction of the new St Paul’s Church in Koboko Archdeaconry, which President Museveni offered 1.1 bn towards its construction. Upon completion, this church being built in memory of the late Archbishop Silvanus Wani will be the biggest in West Nile.
She also met her constituents on Sunday where religious leaders prayed for her.
In order to prosper, Ms Anite said, young people must change their negative attitude towards work and desist from drug and substance abuse since such habits are a dead-end strategy that cannot bring about any positive change in both their lives and communities.
‘I also urge the youth not to trivialize the security, peace and freedom that the NRM Government ushered in but rather cherish it and use the enabling environment in Uganda to engage in productive activities that will better their lives,’ she said.
