KAMPALA —The Ministry of Health has isolated three Chinese nationals in their homes in Seeta, Mukono District after presenting symptoms similar to those of the deadly Coronavirus.

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Health, Mr Emmanuel Ainebyoona, said that they will monitor Zhong Hing, Wany Wen Xi, and Ni Side at their homes for the next 14 days.

The Chinese, who are workers at China Star Company in Mukono, are said to have presented symptoms such as nose bleeding and fever, shortly after returning from their home country. The company has also suspended work.

The Ministry of Health is currently monitoring 220 people that recently arrived in Uganda from China to ascertain they are free from the deadly Coronavirus before mingling with the rest of the community.

The first people were placed in isolation about two weeks ago, Ainebyoona said.

The Outbreak of Corona Virus 2019, or 2019-nCoV, has had a major toll on the global economy, considering China is the manufacturing center for most of the biggest companies and the second-largest economy in the world. As of Thursday, nearly 60,000 people have been infected across China, the majority in and around Wuhan.

Most of the 1,355 who have died in China were in that region, but officials have confirmed multiple deaths elsewhere, including the capital Beijing.
