KAMPALA – A section of members of parliament have withdrawn their pursuit to censure the minister of security General Elly Tumwine.
The group which was promoting the censure motion against Tumwine over contempt of parliament cited the low turn up of their colleagues to sign on the paper to raise the required number for the motion to be moved before parliament.
Gen Tumwine is accused of arrogance, interfering with the work of Parliamentary committee on Human Rights that was investigating torture in Safe Houses and stopping the Director of Internal Security Organization (ISO) Brig Col Kaka Bagyenda from appearing before the Committee.
The mover of the Motion who is the mp for Kasambya County Gaffa Mbwatekamwa said that the 39 signatures attained are still few from the 150 needed for the censuring Gen Tumwine.
Manjiya County MP John Baptist Nambeshe disagreed with the withdrawal of the motion saying that MPs who appended their signatures were not consulted over this move of withdrawal.
