KAMPALA – Events promoter Abbey Musinguzi, also known as Abitex, has warned local artiste Ronald Mayinja that he should not dare step on a music stage again following reports that the latter has pledged his alliance to the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM).
Mayinja, who has been a die-hard of the People Power political pressure group led by fellow artiste and Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, has allegedly formed an independent political movement dubbed ‘Peace for All, All for Peace.’
But Mr Musinguzi said Mayinja will regret his decision.
“Fans will never forgive you for your stupid decision. They will pelt you with bottles should you dare appear on stage,” he warned the legendary artiste in an interview on Monday, January 27, 2020.
Several artistes such as Full Figure, Big Eye and Catherine Kusasira have faced the wrath of music supporters after pledging their support to NRM. Several of them have been pelted with water bottles.
Abitex wondered how such artiste with such a rich history would allow himself to be compromised.
However, recently, Mayinja said he decided to form the movement to foster peace and co-existence as a key factor in social, political and economic transformation.
“We members of Peace for All, All for Peace, recognise that our country’s history is characterised by social and political instabilities, with the absence of peace since independence; that social and political instabilities are the fundamental bottlenecks to social, economic and political transformation; that some actors do not appreciate the importance and prominence; resolved and undeterred with commitment to foster positive change in the cause of a peaceful Uganda….,” the document reads.
