Dr Besigye who is also the People’s Government President had gone to Jinja to celebrate the 15th anniversary since the founding of FDC as part of simultaneous celebrations in various districts of Eastern Uganda.

According to his personal aide Ronald Muhinda, Besigye was arrested by Police and Army and taken to Nalufenya.

“Besigye was kidnapped after hours of the battle between FDC supporters and Police as people fought back Police aggression, brutality, harassment and intimidation from Bugembe to Jinja town,” Muhinda said on his Facebook page.

“Police who were previously overwhelmed after using teargas and bullets, called in the Army for reinforcement from Ghaddafi barracks to fully subdue the people,” he added.
