KAMPALA – Leader of Opposition, Betty Aol has called on all opposition MPs to protest the humiliation and attempted assassination of different MPs by sleeping in the chambers once parliament resumes its sittings of Tuesday next week.

She said, “In the event that no action is taken, we as the Opposition in Parliament together with other MPs who strongly believe and cherish human rights, human life and dignity would sleep in the chambers of Parliament.”

Aol made the call on Friday, January 17 while addressing journalists at Parliament following complaints by Atkins Katusabe (Bukonzo West) over allegations that there are attempts to rob, humiliate and assassinate him while moving in his constituency in Kasese.

Katusabe told journalists that on January 13, 2019, while passing through Karukumiza trading center in Karambi Subcounty, he was attacked by both Police and army officers while in his car, who him on gunpoint and in the scuffle he lost his $9125 to these security officers.

Now, Katusabe wants the commanders of this operation to be identified and punished for the inhuman treatment they extended to him while stopping him to move freely in his constituency.

It’s upon this background that the LOP asked fellow opposition MPs to demand for immediate action from the government saying for many times opposition MPs have faced humiliation from security forces and no tangible action is done.
