Lwanga drops Vicar General, appoints new Radio Maria Director in Kampala Archdiocese reshuffle

KAMPALA – Kampala Catholic Archbishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga has replaced the Vicar General, Msgr Charles Kasibante, and appointed a new director for Radio Maria in a series of changes of priests.

In the changes, the parish priest of Christ the King Church at the heart of Kampala, Msgr Gerald Kalumba, will replace Msgr Kasibante as the vicar-general. It is not immediately clear where Msgr Kasibante has been posted. Msgr Kalumba will remain the parish priest of Christ the King Church.

Also reshuffled is Rev Fr Joseph Mukiibi, the national director of Radio Maria. He has been posted to Kansanga Parish as a curate. He will be replaced by Rev Fr Raymond Kalanzi, who is of Philippines origin.

The other confirmed changes are:

Fr. Achellis Mayanja, will move from Kansanga to Lubaga Cathedral as a parish priest.

Fr. Mpanju will move from Bugonga as a parish priest and be the new Episcopal Vicar for Entebbe.

Fr. Kato Joseph is the new parish priest of Muduuma while Fr. Ignacio Mbaziira has been appointed Curate Kitakyuusa. Fr. Blaise Zzimbe is the new parish priest of Kansanga while Fr. Ssempagala is the Curate of Kireka. Fr. Ronnie Mubiru is the new Vocations Director and Fr. JB Ssembatya has been appointed Manager of Marianum Press Kisubi.

Fr. Yawe is the Curate of Kitakyuusa while Fr. FX Ssemakula is the new Curate of Masajja.

Rev Fr. Dr. Sserugga is the new Pastoral Coordinator and Rev Fr. JB Kituuma is the Education Secretary.

Fr. Stephen Kigundu is the new Curate for Kisubi.

The communications director for the archdiocese, the Rev Fr Joseph Nkera, on Saturday evening confirmed the changes, which he said are normal in the service of the church.

The changes come about four months after the archbishop transferred more priests in lower ranks.
