KAMPALA – The minister of Ethics and Integrity, Rev Fr Simon Lokodo, has threatened to stop Pastor Aloysious Bujjingo from evangelism for his misleading comments after marriage.

In an interview, Fr Lokodo said that he would summon Bujjingo and that if he refuses to head the summons, he will stop him from preaching.

“As someone in charge of ensuring that the citizens of this country are not taken into ridicule, I will summon him and if he doesn’t correspond, we have every reason to say he is not allowed to run a church because he is only misleading the citizens,” he said on Thursday, January 16, 2020

“Pastor Bujjingo is totally uninformed about marriage. In the gospel of Matthew and Luk, it is very clear that the institution of marriage is an establishment that is supposed to be perpetual,” Fr Lokodo said.

On 9th January, during lunch hour prayers at Canan Land in Makerere Kikoni, Bugingo said ’till death do us part’ is not biblical and is the cause of murders between couples. He challenged his congregation to show him a couple in the bible that made such vows.

However, this drew condemnations from several religious leaders. The Rt. Rev. Johnson Twinomujuni, the Bishop of West Ankole Diocese, said that he is not surprised that Bugingo made such statements after divorcing his wife on grounds of sickness. He goes ahead to educate him about different verses in the bible that supports the vows.

“Does the Bible he has read countless times have the following verses: Rom. 7:2-3; Mal. 2:13-16; Heb. 13:4; Mat. 5:32; 19:4-9; plus 1 Cor. 7:2-40, and especially verse 10 which says, “To the married, I give this charge (not I, but the Lord), the wife should not separate from her husband.”
