MASAKA – The High Court in Masaka has sentenced a 50-year-old man to 14 years in jail for defiling his granddaughter.

Court presided over by Justice Winfred Nabisinde last Friday heard that on January 6, 2019,

Prosecution led by Ivan Nkwasibwe alleges that the victim was living with his grandfather at a time of the incident where he dragged her in a house, undressed her and defiled her.

The convict, however, asked her not to tell anyone, but the minor later informed one of their neighbours who alerted police.

Mr Nkwasibwe told court that the convict pleaded guilty through Pre bargain in the presence of his lawyer Mr Lawrence Yaweh. The trial magistrate agreed with the two sides and sentenced Mukasa to 14 years in jail.

Meanwhile, Police in Lwengo District are holding are the 45-year-old man for defiling a 4 -year-old girl.

The suspect is a resident of Lwetamu Village in Lwengo Rural Sub-County in Lwengo District.

Preliminary police investigations indicate that the suspect sexually assaulted the minor when the parents had gone to the garden her behind.

The victim’s father Peter Kiwanuka, said they were shocked to find the minor walking with difficulty and she revealed to them that the suspect had sexually assaulted her.

Mr Felix Mugizi, the Lwengo district police commander, confirmed the arrest,  saying police are going to take the suspect and the minor for a medical examination to establish if the minor contracted HIV/Aids.
