KISORO – Two people were injured when a bus belonging to Bismarkan Company Ltd overturned in Kisoro District on Sunday evening.

Kigezi region police spokesperson Elly Maate in an interview with this website said that the driver of the bus, Registration number UAV 118U, lost control and veered off the road at Kagano on Rubanda-Kisoro road in Kisoro district.

He identified the injured as Uwamahoro Natalie, aged 27 years and her son Eria Kamuchanga Daniel of 8 years. They were rushed to Hilled Medical Centre in kisoro town for treatment and later discharged.

He said the bus driver has been arrested.

The incident comes days after seven people were killed when a bus belonging to Global Coaches was involved in an accident on Masaka Road, killing seven people. Traffic accidents are one of the major killers on Ugandans with more than 3,600 killed annually.
Police has said traffic officers will carry out an operation on the roads during the festive season.

During the festive season, many motorists travelling to the villages often drive while drinking alcohol and it is said to be the major cause of accidents in this period.

Traffic police officers along the highway have been given breathalysers to target drink drivers.
