KAMPALA —Police spokesperson Fred Enanga has given details of the Mutundwe shooting, where the military killed four suspected thugs in an alleged botched robbery.

Enanga in a statement said that at about 3:00 PM, thugs had a planned robbery in Kabowa near Kampala University before they were put out action by the army.

“It was a UPDF-led operation where the thugs were trailed from Gaba and intercepted at Mutundwe,” Enanga said in WhatsApp text

He says security officers got intelligence and tried to intercept them in their motor vehicles UBE 808F, Toyora WISH, UAN 368H Caldina balck in colour but declined to stop prompting a chase with the security team while on gun exchange.

At Mutundwe hill, he explained that suspected were cornered—shooting four dead.

He claims security forces have since recovered a star pistol no. 32002896 old model and motor vehicle UBE 808F WISH.

Mr. Enanga identified the deceased as Stephen Wandera of Mengo,

The bodies have removed to the city mortuary awaiting postmortem.

The gang is believed have conducted robberies in areas of Luzira, Salama road, Kabalagala, Namasuba, Natete, Wakaliga Busega, and Bweyogerere and other places.
