National Students Executive Council elections set for this Sunday

KAMPALA – The Ministry of Education and Sports in collaboration with the Electoral Commission are set to conduct elections for the 31st National Students Executive Council at St. Mary’s College Kisubi, in Wakiso district on Sunday, December 22.

The Uganda National Students Association is an umbrella organisation for all students in secondary schools, post-secondary, Institutions of Higher learning and Universities in Uganda, that was established as a platform to represent students’ views and opinions within institutions of learning.

The council will consist of 14 members including the President, Vice President, General and Vice Secretaries and Speakers, all among others.

According to the Ministry of Education, Nominations of candidates has already been done and 52 candidates are vying for the respective posts.

“Campaigns are to take place on the 21st, while elections are to be held on the 22nd of December,” said the ministry in a statement.

The function will only be attended by delegates from institutions of learning that are accredited with the National Council for Higher Education.
