KAMPALA – President Museveni has said that it is high time Engineers considered innovating and working together as away of weaning the Country off dependence on foreign manpower.

Museveni’s message was delivered by Finance Minister Matia Kasaija on Thursday December 5 who represented him at the opening ceremony of the 6th Engineers Forum at Hotel Africana.

Museveni congratulated the Engineers Registration Board on marking the Golden Jubilee since its establishment in 1969.

This year’s theme was “The Engineer in the 4th Industrial Revolution.”

The President said that the Government will continue offering training opportunities for Ugandan Engineers to enable them compete favorably with foreign firms for road construction projects among others.

“The NRM Government is also pursuing measures to promote local content in implementation of infrastructure projects,” said the President.

He called upon local contractors and consultants to get prepared to participate in Governments initiatives for promoting local content.

“I wish, however, to warn Engineers to desist from corrupt practices as you compete for work and consultancy services,” said Museveni.
