KAMPALA – Artiste Joseph Mayanja, aka Jose Chameleone has said that clearing Kampala off floods is going to be his number one priority if voted Kampala Lord Mayor come 2021 general election.

Early this year, Chameleone declared his intention to contest for the Kampala Lord mayoral race to unseat the incumbent Erias Lukwago.

He said, “I am in this struggle with you and not because of any financial gains. If I wanted money, I would have gone to board the bus (NRM) because they have money. I am here to tell you that I am one of you. I’m a Ugandan with rights to identify with the oppressed or the oppressor. I have decided to identify with the oppressed,” he added.

Taking to his Facebook official page, the artiste said that he is so dismayed with the ever-worsening flooding of roads, channels in low laying areas in Kampala.

“It hurts to see work getting to a hault, many of us affected, roads cut off, even with a slight downpour,” he said, adding that “Our Kampala needs solutions not promises!”

Chameleone said that the rains we receive cannot justify the nature of floods cutting off roads, displacing and killing people.

“The people of Kampala deserve better. We must reverse this nightmare, and give our city green and fresh life,” he added.

The artiste also revealed that he has been silent because he is traveling all over the world consulting and making links from cities that he shall work with “together for a greater Capital.”
