LUWERO – The state minister for works, Gen. Katumba Wamala has appealed to everybody to be very careful while driving during this festive season saying that life is very important.

Gen Katumba said this on Thursday, December 5 while launching the ‘Tweddeko’ road safety caravan to Luweero.

This was aimed at raising awareness about road usage and safety.

During the launch, Gen Katumba urged motorists to be more mindful of others while driving on the road.

“Sometimes we rush for nothing because sometimes you find the vehicle over speeding and you go on the normal speed and after few minutes you find them slowing down because of other reasons. So let’s be aware. We should not be rushing to the hospital, we should keep our lives in check,” said Gen Katumba.

Gilbert Assi, the managing director Vivo Energy said: “As we are approaching the festive season, we want to make sure that everybody is aware that excitement of the festive season does not mean that we should put our lives in danger.”

He said Ugandans should know that that their lives are more valuable than anything in this world.

Steven Kasiima, the director of Traffic and Road Safety said:” We get many people who have just bought vehicles They go on the road and cause havoc. We are going to do our best to fight it such that we celebrate the end of year and Christmas with lower accidents.”
