KABAROLE – The National Coordinator of the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) party, Gen Mugisha Muntu, has said he will not sign the opposition’s petition that seeks to drag President Museveni to the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Speaking at the opening of the ANT office in Fort Portal Town on Wednesday, Gen Muntu said building structures at the moment is more important than seeking to grab power.

“With the efforts by the People’s government and Forum for Democratic Change in processing signatures for taking Gen Museveni to ICC, we have no problem with that effort but me as an individual I will not be putting there my signature,” he said.

The former FDC president said by building the party structures, the opposition will learn how to take and maintain power.

“We need to prepare ourselves early on how to run this country if we capture because we shall not be the first people to be in power and we should not focus on top leadership we need to first build party structures all levels,” Gen Muntu said.

Nevertheless, he said ANT members, who desire to sign the ICC petition can go ahead.

Gen Muntu also insisted that whereas they have ideological differences with FDC, they are not enemies and neither are they in conflict.

“We don’t need to fight with other members of opposition instead we need to build our party by branding it” he said.

Gen Muntu said that they are also planning to hold a fundraising function so as to raise funds to help the party run.
