SEMBABULE – Police in Sembabule District are investigating circumstances under which a six-year-old boy drowned in a pond in Nsambya village, Mutima Sub-county in Sembabule District.

Police on Monday identified the deceased as Paul Kayinzi, son to Mr Gerald Kayinzi of Nsambya village, Mutima Subcounty. The six-year-old reportedly moved out of the main house during a heavy rain without the parent’s monitoring his movements.

“They only realized that he was missing after the rain had stopped. We informed our neighbors and residents who joined the hunt for the missing boy. The body of the boy was later recovered floating at a water pond,” Kayinza said.

Mr Paul Kangave, the southern region police spokesperson, said police was investigating the incident. “We advise parents to take maximum care for children at all times,” Kangave said.

In May, the state minister for Water and Environment, also Mukono North MP, Ronald Kibuule lost his twin boys after they drowned in a family swimming pool in Mbalala, Mukono.

The two boys reportedly aged two years are said to have gone missing for a few hours in the evening before they were discovered in a swimming pool at their home yard.

In July, a Primary Five pupil of Budo Junior School died on Wednesday evening after suddenly becoming unconscious while swimming.
