JINJA – The Government of Uganda through National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) is implementing a Water Supply Stablisation Project for Jinja- Iganga towns.

The project involves laying 3.9km of bulk transmission mains from Masese water treatment plant to Jinja-Rubaga reservior.

“Installation of 4 (no.4) 384,000litres per hour pumps to produce an additional of 6,000,000 litres of water per day,” said NWSC in a statement.

The Corporation adds that this will boost the water production in Jinja from the current 26million litres of water being produced per day to 32million litres of water per day.

According to NWSC Jinja area General Manager, Dr. Charles Okuonzi, the works when completed will improve water supply in Jinja City, Njeru, Kayunga road, Iganga, Mayuge areas along Kamuli road and the surrounding areas.
