MUKONO – Namilyango College administrationh hasMonday, October 14, defied a court order to let George William Eronda, an expelled senior Four student sit his Uganda Certificate of Examination(UCE) at the school.

Mr Eronda was expelled from the school early this year for allegedly bullying a fellow student, contrary to the school rules and regulations No. 131 on teasing and bullying.

Mr Eronda’s lawyer Walter Bwire and the District

Police Commander (DPC) Rogers Sseguya,
Monday escorted the student to the school where he was to sit his first paper.

The three had a meeting with the Head Teacher Constantine Mpuuga Ssajabbi with but the school insisted that the student sits his exams at Buddo SS where he is said to be registered.

The lawyer and his client, not satisfied with the Head Teacher’s decision, drove to Lugazi Diocese where the Chairperson Namilyango College Board of Governors sits.

By the time this report was filed though, negotiations between Mr. Bwire and the board chairperson had not started.

Background

On September 26, Eronda and his father Mr Wilberforce Eronda Wandera sued the Board of governors for the unfair circumstances under which the former was expelled from the school.

On October 10, the Deputy Registrar Mukono High Court, Harriet Ssali Nalukwago ruled that the
school grants the student access to sit his UCE exams from the school, noting that the school did not follow the right procedure in dismissing him.
