KAMPALA — A fire erupted at Park View Shopping Centre, Sunday morning, sending thick smoke over the area and forced a brief evacuation of businesses on the building.
The fire was reported at about 8:00 a.m. at a building located at Luwum Street, Old Taxi Park, Downtown Kampala.
The fire that had threatened the structure at Old Taxi Park earlier in the day, was contained by Police who had a back up of businessmen operating from the building.
The cause of the fire remains unknown.
Firefighters were able to stop the forward progress of the blaze and no injuries or damage to the structure has been reported.
The Park View Shopping Centre houses a number of business including a popular Saloon owned by Eddie Mutwe, a personal bodyguard to Kyadondo East MP, Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine.
It also houses a number of restaurants and others.
