ENTEBBE – The Entebbe Grade one magistrate her worship Joanita Muwanika has charged and remanded Police constable Mr Davis Talemwa on two counts of murder of Joshua Nteyireho and Merina Tumukunde on the Entebbe–Kampala Expressway at the beginning of September.

Court heard that on September 15 Mr Talemwa and others still at large, near Nabirigwa Bridge on the Expressway in Katabi Town council unlawfully attacked and killed Mr Nteyireho and Ms Tumukunde.

Her worship Muwanika said Mr Talemwa was not required to take plea before the grade one magistrate’s court since murder is a capital offence that can only be heard before the high court.

She said the suspect will only appear before the grade one magistrate’s court to be informed of the progress of the investigation.

She also gave the prosecution six months to conclude investigations in the matter so as Talemwa is committed to the high court, or else the suspect will be entitled to apply for a mandatory bond that can be given by the grade one court.

Her worship remanded Talemwa to Kigo prison until November 18 this year when he will appear before the court for the prosecution to inform the court on the progress of the investigations.
