Stop begging from politicians, Muslims challenged

RUKUNGIRI – Muslim believers have been challenged to stop the habit of begging for money from political candidates but rather mind about service delivery and development of their area.

Hajji Suleiman Semukuya, the Rukungiri district Uganda Muslim Supreme Council Representative and the Chairman foundation body of Rwakanywegyero mosque and primary school in Kebisoni Sub County Rukungiri district made the call on Friday, September 13, during Juma prayers at Rwakanywegyero mosque.

“Fellow Muslims, lets value our personality. The acts of begging from politicians for peanuts must stop and we focus on leaders who will bring development to our societies,” Semukuya advised.

Sulaiman Bwengye, the Imam Rwakanyegyero mosque implored the Muslims to “call off pride and work hard” to strengthen their faith.

Imam Bwengye encouraged them to always share with the needy and prioritize Juma prayers if they are to succeed in this earthly life.

“The Almighty Allah wants us to serve him wholeheartedly and making praising him a priority so that at the end we are welcomed as winners and granted space in eternity,” Imam Bwengye cautioned.

The Rubabo county Legislator Hon Mary Paula Turyahikayo asked the muslims to ensure education of their children if the religion is to stand firm and get a brighter future.

Mary Paula’s message was delivered Counsel Emmanuel Ndakwenda, her political assistant during.

Councel Nankwenda noted that with education, the society’s future is a bright one and as such, educationalists can help in developing their communities.

“When your children are educated, you are rest assured of future government leaders and the generation that can sustain the religion even in the decades to come” Ndakwenda advised.

Hon Paula Turyahikayo challenged the Muslims to “form groups through which government can channel support to boost their household incomes.”

Ndakwenda delivered 1Million shillings the legislator had previously pledged for the development of Rwakanyegyero Primary School.

He also cashed in a donation of UGX 200,000 and pledged another UGX 200,000 towards the construction of a new mosque project worth UGX 21 million.
