KAMPALA – Business at the Makindye Chief magistrate’s court on September 9, came to a standstill a litigant’s husband collapsed and died in the courtroom during session.

A 60-year-old man only identified as Fragilo Kizito a resident of Kabalagala; a Kampala Suburb has collapsed and subsequently died inside court.

The late Kizito, had accompanied his wife Rosemary Kizito to court where she is battling charges of assaulting a one William Geza.

According to eyewitnesses, Kizito collapsed inside the courtroom when his wife was called to the dock and a prosecution witness took to the stand to pin her.

One of the eyewitnesses who preferred anonymity said that before Kizito’s wife was called to the dock, he was normal and looked to be in a good health condition.

“When Rosemary was called to the dock, no sooner had the complainant started testifying than Kizito started sweating and we saw him falling off the seat to the floor. His neighbour started screaming calling out for help as she saw Muzei fighting for his life,” narrated the eye witness.

Amidst this tension, the magistrate was compelled to adjourn the hearing prematurely as Kizito’s lifeless body was being carried outside the courtroom from where he was confirmed and pronounced dead.

Kizito’s body has been picked from court by a Police patrol and taken to Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Mortuary at Mulago hospital for a postmortem.

When this website contacted the judiciary’s communication’s officer Mr Solomon Muyita, he said he would get back to us.
