KAMPALA – Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) is set to clear the Right of Way/Road Reserve along the Nakalama-Tirinyi-Mbale Road Project starting on Wednesday, September 18.
A statement issued by UNRA, says that the road is being rehabilitated despite encroachers who are obstructing their work.
“The road is currently undergoing rehabilitation and a number of road reserve encroachers have become obstacles to project progress,” reads the statement.
“The exercise will target all the encroachers along the road notable among the areas to be affected include but are not limited to Nakalama Junction, Busembatia Town Council and Bugwere Road Market among others,” adds the statement
Adding that, extensive engagements have been conducted with all the affected persons together with their leader.
In February 2015, UNRA signed a UGX 79 billion contract with Dot Services Limited, a locally registered company for the rehabilitation of the 120 km Nakalama-Tirinyi-Mbale road but UNRA terminated the contract.
However, in 2018 UNRA signed a UGX 135 billion contract reinstating Dot Services Limited on Nakalama-Tirinyi-Mbale road with a duration of 25 months.
