HOIMA — Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has asked the people of Hoima Municipality to support the joining opposition candidate Ms. Nyakato Asinasi Kamanda in the forthcoming parliamentary by-election.

“Our candidate Nyakato Asinasi Kamanda is a brave fighter. We are all encouraged by her courage. Above all, she believes in a united front to tackle the dictatorship. That is why we are going into this election as united forces of change,” said Bobi Wine.

Bobi Wine explained that his people power agreed to share the platform with leaders from different political parties and groups — explaining that “all of us spoke with one voice.”

He was speaking during the launch of Ms. Asinasi Kamanda political campaign in Bunyoro on Monday September 2 where he was received by massive crowds.

Bobi Wine implored the people of Bunyoro to reconnect with that spirit of resistance which lived in their grand fathers and mothers..

He noted that he was very elated to see most of them idolize Kabalega, the great King of Bunyoro who resisted colonial rule, even to the point of death.

“Like most Ugandans, the people of Bunyoro are facing a lot of challenges ranging from massive land evictions, unemployment, oppressive taxes, a broken healthcare and education system, etc. I could see the yearning most of them have to change the status quo and build a new Uganda based on social justice and equal opportunity” he added.

Ms. Nyakato is currently serving as FDC National Executive committee (NEC) member as National Secretary for Health.

She is also a former Secretary for health on the FDC National Youth League executive committee (2011- 2015).

Ms. Tophace Byagira Kaahwa, who was the Woman Representative of Hoima district, recently opted to represent the newly created Kikuube district, creating a vacancy in her constituency.

Hon Kaahwa who is under the NRM political party was previously serving in Hoima district as a Member of Parliament but she finally decided to serve as Kikuube Woman MP.

Kikuube district which was carved out of Hoima was made a district and became effective on July 1.

Last week, the Electoral Commission approved the programme for the by-election of District Woman Representatives to Parliament for Hoima and Kaabong districts and elections in Lower Local Government Councils in the two districts.
