BREAKING: Raging fire guts Nursing School as police quickly responds to extinguish the flames

KABALE – Raging Fire has on Tuesday morning gutted the administration block of Rugarama School of Nursing and Midwifery in Kabale Municipality destroying property worth millions of Shillings.

According to the guild President of Rugarama School of Nursing and Midwifery Silus Tusiime, the fire started in the wee hours of Tuesday morning at about 6:00 am from the stationary room.

Tusiime says that the fire destroyed properties that include papers, graduation gowns, gloves, iron sheets, and the ceiling of the building.

Mr. Tusiime said that they tried to put off the fire using fire extinguishers but could not do anything since it was too much.

Tusiime says that the alerted Police fire who came and for rescue service.

Mr. Tusiime added that “they suspect that the fire could have been caused by a short circuit”.

The Officer-in-charge of Police fire brigade for Kigezi Region Moses Muhanguzi says it took a lot of efforts to put out the huge fire.

He says that they have started investigating the cause of fire.

“We have already initiated investigation into the cause if this fire which ravaged the institution and destroyed properties,” Mr Muhwezi added.

Mr. Muhwezi however warned the students and the school administration against using the block since it is now weak.

“This block has now been weakened by the fires, the administration stand warned against using this block until renovation is done.”
