GULU- Kyadondo East Member of Parliament, Robert Kyaggulanyi Ssentamu alias Bobi Wine together with 36 collegues, have on Tuesday, August 6, appeared at Gulu High court.

Bobi Wine and his colleagues were summoned in July and are now facing treason charges.

The criminal summons came during the court sitting on the morning of Thursday 4, July in a Gulu-based court.

Bobi Wine and 36 other suspects are accused of  stoning and smashing the windscreen of one of the presidential cars on August 13, 2018. This fateful day happened to be the last day of the Arua Municipality campaign by-election that sought to replace the assassinated former MP, Ibrahim Abiriga. The incident led to the death of Yasin Kawuma, Bobi Wine’s driver who was shot dead.

Today the suspects are appearing in court and according to Bobi Wine, the case is ridiculous.

“Appearing at Gulu High Court with colleague suspects in regard to the ridiculous charges of treason & annoying Gen. Museveni”, he posted on Facebook.

Last month, the Grade One Magistrate Isaac Kintu ordered Police to arrest Bobi Wine and 9 others who included Ntungamo Municipality MP Gerald Karuhanga, Jinja Municipality MP Paul Mwiru, Mityana, MP Francis Zaake, former MP Mike Mabike and several others.

Bobi Wine came out and responded to the criminal summons saying that they are still cooking more charges because they are scared of him, adding that all this will come to an end.

“Meanwhile, in another ridiculous attempt to have the 37 of us framed over Arua, the state has brought a fresh charge against us! They are still cooking more charges because they are scared, but this will come to an end,” he posted.

He wondered which offence he and his colleagues had committed that annoyed the President!

“What offence? That we annoyed, alarmed and ridiculed the person of President Museveni!” questioned in a Facebook posted he made.

He added that the government and the police should be embarrassed by the Arua incident because they have told enough lies to the public.
