NTUNGAMO- The Uganda Scouts National executive commissioner (NEC) Richard Okello has urged Ministry of Education and Sports and Public Service to always consider most teachers with scouting skills if the education sector is to realize splendiferous achievement.
Okello noted that when trained scout teachers are recruited into service they implement scouting skills of patriotism and perform their duty as expected.
He said that trained scouts have their character and promise of doing the best, duty to serve God and the Country thus helping other people at all times.
Okello made remarks on Sunday, July 7, 2019, during the closure of a three -day Ntungamo District Scout’s Camp held at Lake Nyabihoko the district camping site in Kajara county Ntungamo District.
He also asked pupils and students to avoid promiscuity which may ruin their lives rather concentrate on their studies saying that the future belongs to those who are focused and determined.
The Scouts Movement was started in Uganda 1915 by its founder Robert Baden-Powell in Mbarara district but it was later spread to other parts of the country.
The area MP, Hon Timuzigu Michael Kamugisha appealed to scouts to champion the fight against corruption and other acts which are hindering service delivery to the public.
Hon. Timuzigu haled them for being patriotic and for participating in national service.
The Ntungamo District senior education officer Atamba Peace warned Head Teachers against sending scouts to Kaazi without trained teachers saying that risk is being suspended.
The District Scouts commissioner Rev Akampa Dennis requested for more funds for scouts to help them to participate at National level.
Certificates were awarded to scouts who participated and the best schools that showcased their scouting skills, with Kamahuri PS coming in first in the category of junior scouts, followed by Ntungamo high school in Ventures and Kiyoora PTC third in rovers.
While announcing results, the scout’s assessors Julius Kataryamboga and Tushemereirwe Gertrude said that out of 17 schools that participated only the best nine schools will participate at Kaazi camping grounds in August 23, 2019.
