KAMPALA – Reigning Miss World Vanessa Ponce De Leon has Tuesday July 23 touched down at Entebbe International Airport.
Ms. Vanessa Ponce arrived in the company of Miss World Chief Executive Officer Julia Morley for the much anticipated 6-day visit.
She will be the guest honor at the Miss Uganda 2019 grand finale happening this Friday at Sheraton Kampala Hotel.
At the airport, the beauty Queen was welcomed by a dance troupe that played different traditional instrument and put up a good cultural performance.
“I am so happy to be in Uganda for the first time and I cannot wait to see the contestants vie for this year’s Miss Uganda crown” Ponce said upon touching down at the airport.
The Mexican will also participate in other series of tourists including a Pearl of Africa tour, engage in beauty pageants among others.
Uganda is one of the countries in the world listed among the friendliest places to visit.
Miss World is the oldest running international beauty pageant.
It was created in the United Kingdom by Eric Morley in 1951.
Since his death in 2000, Morley’s widow, Julia Morley, has co-chaired the pageant.
Along with Miss Universe, Miss International and Miss Earth, this pageant is one of the Big Four international beauty pageants—the most coveted beauty titles when it comes to international pageant competitions.
The current Miss World is Vanessa Ponce of Mexico who was crowned on 8 December 2018 in Sanya, China.
She is the first Mexican woman to win Miss World.
