MUKONO-The office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) has taken over the Ssebulime case from the lawyers of the late Ronald Ssebulime’s family led by Counsel Nkunyingi Muwadda and Isaac Ssemakadde.

The case “Nakayita Sylvia Vs Nantaba Idah Erios and 3 others” was on Friday, July 19, before His Worship Deo Muyinda a grade one magistrate at Mukono Chief Magistrates court.

This move comes after the Resident State Attorney, Jonathan Muwaganya informed court on Monday, July 15, that he was instructed by the DPP Mike Chibita to take over the case – a move that was first rejected by the family lawyers.

However, this has led to dissatisfaction among the relatives of the late Ssebulime who are led by Ms. Sylvia Nakayita who is a sister to the late Ssebulime.

“We don’t expect any positive results from this case after its being transferred.” Ms. Nakayita remarked with disapproval.

Counsel Nkunyingi wondered why the DPP has decided to take over the case.

“I wonder why the DPP has decided to take over the case yet we have for so long been petitioning the DPP to take action against Hon. Nantaba and the others but he has been silent now they have come out to take over.” Counsel Nkunyinji said.
